“The Little Stranger” features a thoughtful script, intense performances and beautiful set design. Yet it falls short of being a compelling film overall.
The latest Nicholas Sparks novel-turned-film is a terribly uneven effort. It has its moments of charm, but they’re far outnumbered by bland performances, shallow characterization, and worn-out clichés.
“Mortdecai” is goofy, over-the-top fun thanks to Johnny Depp and to director David Koepp’s efforts to keep the running gags and physical comedy rolling at a good clip.
