Strong performances from Laura Dern and Jack O’Connell highlight what audiences get in “Trial by Fire.” Their work when paired with the capable storytelling capabilities of director Edward Zwick do much to lift the material.
“Donnybrook” is a harrowing film about desperate people. Intense, bleak, and sporadically violent, the film is served well by its strong cast and direction.
“Snitch” is by far Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s most entertaining film in years. Tightly written, well-acted and directed, and featuring an A-list cast surrounding Johnson, this inspired by true events thriller is intense from start to finish.
All you Russell Crowe fans out there, breathe a sigh of relief. There’s not a single scene in his latest outing, “Broken City”, where he sings anything, and that’s good.
